this is me:
i’m a scientist artist science artist. i do both. by day i work in a genome centre, where i play with bacteria and stare at lots and lots of data. the rest of the time, i make ceramic science-themed art. sometimes i also do digital illustration. whether at the lab or in the studio, i am consistently seeking ways to join art and science, with varying degrees of success.
also, i have the honour of being host human for these glorious idiots.

Hello,
I’m Steve Lipton The guy who was tweeting yesterday about ASM Microbe 2016. I work for a company called Scientific Device Laboratory, located outside of Chicago. I did have a meeting yesterday with our executive VP and our conference marketing consultants about some kind of cross promotion with the artists.
Since I don’t have an e-mail address for you, I though I’d leave you a not in the comments and we can connect that way. I’m usually a bit more verbose than Twitter can handle.
A little background…
While my title is VP of special projects, that generally means I’m the guy that does what everyone else either doesn’t want to or everyone else can’t do. Website building is in that category (and one of the fun ones) I”m working on a project right now to build a site that’s an Instagram of Microscopy MicroscopeLounge.com. The idea is to market one of our products the MiPlatform microscope adapter. It’s an adapter for smartphones to become microscope cameras. Our idea was to have somewhere that people could post their photos from under the lens. It has yet to take off, but we would like to get it popular, and of course sell a lot of MiPlatforms.
ASM Microbe 2016 is great place for that to happen. In attending other ASM shows, this has been one of our popular products. I’d like to get the Microscope Lounge getting a few hits. After Seeing @artlogica’s post about you guys at ASM Microbe 2016, I’m beginning to re-think Microscope lounge a bit, and in stead of just photography, maybe include some science art from other media.
We here are still trying to figure out what we can do together with the artists, but I’d love to get a conversation going at the least. Our convention marketing consultants, may be contacting you as well, but I thought that you might want to know who these people are first, and outside of ASM Microbe, discuss what else we might be able to do together.
